CORUM Malaysia, in collaboration with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), is pleased to introduce a focused training program on stoma care. Designed to build practical skills and confidence, this program is suitable for individuals living with a stoma, their family, caregivers, domestic helpers, community health workers, NGO volunteers, health educators, and anyone involved in supporting a person with a stoma.
This training offers participants the opportunity to gain essential knowledge and hands-on experience in managing stoma care. The sessions are structured to help prevent complications, promote comfort and hygiene, and strengthen everyday living skills. Expert guidance will be provided by certified stoma care nurses, and participants will receive a Certificate of Participation jointly issued by CORUM Malaysia and NCSM. The training is delivered in a hybrid format, combining online sessions and an in-person workshop.
Before the workshop begins, all participants are required to complete a short pre-test consisting of multiple-choice questions, along with a set of video learning modules led by medical experts. These modules cover key topics such as colorectal cancer in Malaysia, clinical presentations and management of CRC, and the importance of screening.
The training will take place over three days. The first two sessions, held online in the evening on 21 and 22 August 2025, will cover foundational concepts, anatomy and physiology, surgical aspects of ostomy care, daily living adaptations, nutrition, and common complications. The final session will be conducted in person on 24 August 2025 at the NCSM premises, focusing on practical application and skill assessment through demonstrations and return practice.
The participation fee is RM 100, with limited seats available. Early registration is encouraged.
